Frequently Asked Questions

How Can I start Aerial Arts?

Anyone can be an aerialist! Coil offers many beginner friendly aerial classes such as the Learn to Fly three-week series, a one-time Aerial Teaser or Aerial for Every Body class and Intro to Lyra. We also offer private lessons and private parties.

What Aerial Class is right for me?

That depends… Most of our students start with Learn To Fly if they have no prior experience with aerial silks or aerial hammock. We offer classes for kids and adults. Aerial Yoga is a great class that introduces the student to the fabric but is very gentle to start. For those not yet ready to get off the ground, we offer Acro Yoga, hand balancing and other ground classes.

What if I already have some experience?

If you already have some aerial experience, awesome! Please reach out to us via email, text or call to chat about your experience level and get you an assessment or the pre-requisites to attend the right level class! Come join us! coilspokane@gmail.com

What is belly dance class like?

The style of Belly Dance taught primarily at Coil is called Fat Chance Style Belly Dance. It is conducted and performed in a group, improvisational style. We learn common moves, cues and techniques in class and practice dancing in coordinated groups. The classes are fun and for all ages!

What do i wear to class?

For Aerial Arts: The silk and sling fabrics are sensitive to zippers, jewelry and long nails which can snag the fabric. We suggest wearing form fitting clothing like yoga attire that covers the backs of the knees, arm-pits and hold ample coverage for inversions. Classes are typically conducted barefoot! Please remember to bring a water bottle for hydration.

For Belly Dance: The class is also conducted barefoot. Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to see movement in your feet, arms and hips. Yoga attire and looser fitting tops is just fine!

Do you offer private lessons or parties?

Yes! We offer private lessons for aerial arts as well as belly dance in a 1;1 setting or for up to a group of 4 people. Groups of 5 or more people fall into our group/party rate. We love catering to birthday parties, bachelorette parties, graduation fun, corporate teambuilding, work-friends, girls nights, couples adventures and date nights! There is always a fun thing to do and learn in aerial!
